Kaffarah for Breaking Oath

Breaking an oath in Islam is considered a very serious sin. If someone has broken an oath they must do the following two things.

  1. Seek repentance from Allah
  2. Feed or clothe 10 poor people

Islamic Welfare Trust organises regular feeds for poor and needy people. We provide free hot meals for day workers and labourers. All Kaffarah donations will be spent on providing cooked hot meals for the poor and needy.

Donate your Kaffarah for breaking the oath online.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Islamic Welfare Trust to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Islamic Welfare Trust we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Islamic Welfare Trust to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Islamic Welfare Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Islamic Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Kaffarah for Breaking Fast

Intercourse during the day in Ramadan, for the one who is fasting and is not travelling, is one of the great sins. The person(s) should repent from it, perform a great deal of extra worship, feel regretful and promise Allah to not commit it again.

What is the expiation of breaking fast because of having intercourse?

Expiation for breaking fast because of committing intercourse is severe. The person who commits this sin will have to do one of the following:

  • Free a slave
  • Fast for two consecutive months
  • or Feed sixty poor people

May Allah protect all of us from this sin. However, if you have committed this sin then you should immediately repent and do one of the above actions.

If you decide to choose the option of feeding sixty poor people then Islamic Welfare Trust can help you organise this. The cost of feeding one person is £1. Therefore to feed sixty people will cost £60.

Help Eradicate Food Poverty this Ramadan

Millions of Muslim families are living on less than £1 a day. This means they cannot afford nutritious food, buy clothes and shoes to protect themselves from harsh weather, and, most worryingly, cannot afford medical treatments if they fall ill, and education is out of their reach. Unfortunately, if this continues, these numbers will continue to grow. We must act, and we must act now.

As a Muslim Charity, we have been helping the poor and needy Muslim families across the world for nearly two decades. However, all this has been made possible with your support and donations. Continue donating to ‘sponsor a food pack appeal’ so we can help bring families out of poverty – one at a time!

If you are looking to donate to the Gaza Emergency Appeal, Yemen Emergency Appeal, Syrian Refugee Crisis Appeal, Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal, Afghanistan Emergency Appeal, Pakistan Floods Appeal, Rohingya Refugee Crisis Appeal, or Africa Drought Appeal, Insha’Allah donate with confidence. With your ongoing support, we can only respond to emergencies like conflicts, wars, and crises. We urge you to donate your Sadaqah and Zakat to these appeals so that together we can protect lives throughout the year and in times of crisis.

However, if you are looking to build a Masjid as Sadaqah Jariyah for your loved ones, or if you wish to build a water pump, donate a food pack, sponsor a sewing machine, sponsor an orphan, sponsor a hafiz, or need to give Kaffarah for Breaking an Oath, consider our appeals. Donate to the Ramadan Food Appeal, the Ramadan Zakat Appeal, or simply donate your Zakat to assist the poor and needy around the world. Insha’Allah, donate with confidence for the sake of Allah.
