Save Rohingya Muslim Lives Today

In this day and age having citizenship of a country is considered a blessing, unfortunately, Rohingya Muslims are the only community in the world without any state. There were over 1.5 million Rohingyas living in Myanmar before 2016-17. However, the Myanmar army together, with fanatic Buddhists butchered thousands of men, children, and women. They burnt their homes, destroyed all their belonging and forced them to flee the country and take refuge in neighbouring countries like Malaysia and Bangladesh. In 2013 United Nations described Rohingyas as the most ‘persecuted people in the world’. As you can see this has led to many Rohingya refugees fleeing their country and look for a better life where they can get a proper education, and provide a better life for their families.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Islamic Welfare Trust to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Islamic Welfare Trust we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Islamic Welfare Trust to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Islamic Welfare Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Islamic Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Give the gift of food for Rohingyas in Bangladesh

Bangladesh took in over one million Rohingya Refugees after their persecution at the hands of Myanmar Army and Buddist terrorists. At this moment, there are over 750,000 Rohingya refugees living in an extremely densely populated area of Cox Bazar on the coast of Bangladesh. According to the UN, Cox Bazar is the world’s largest refugee camp. However, conditions in these camps are very challenging for Rohingya refugees.

Most of these camps are overcrowded, with plastic tents. On top of that, there is a lack of access to food, clean water and clothing. The many Rohingya refugees who fled are also in need of urgent medical help, with many suffering from skin diseases and diarrhoea. Most of the refugees are also elderly family members, women and children without their guardians. As a result of this, the health authorities in Bangladesh are overwhelmed.

Help Save Lives In Rohingya Camps

Every time it rains in the camps it causes floods and landslides, thus increase the misery of these people already living poor conditions. With your help, you can make a collective difference and help save lives.

Key Facts about the Rohingya crisis

  • Since 2017 – 1 million refugees have left Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh
  • Over 700,000 people have crossed the border into Bangladesh – at least nearly 400,000 children.
  • Over 1000 people dead from violent clashes
  • More than 90% of household water sources contaminated with E. coli
  • Nearly 7000 Rohingya killed in one month – including over 700 children under five massacred

Who Are Rohingyas?

The Rohingya are a Muslim minority ethnic group, that consists of over 1 million people living in Myanmar. The community has often faced restrictions that affect their daily lives and basic rights.

Your Duty As A Muslim To Help The Rohingyas

Rohingyas are our Muslim brothers and sisters. It is our duty to help our Muslim brothers and sisters in need.

Narrated An-Nu`man bin Bashir:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “You see the believers as regards their being merciful among themselves and showing love among themselves and being kind, resembling one body, so that, if any part of the body is not well then the whole body shares the sleeplessness (insomnia) and fever with it.” Sahih al-Bukhari

Alhamdulillah, with Allah’s blessing since the start of the crisis, we’ve provided free medical care, distributed food packs and set up water pumps for drinking and sanitation purposes. As well as this we’ve also provided women with sanitary products to help them through their monthly periods and childbirth.

Inhumane conditions in Rohingya Refugee Camps

If we say that the task was easy would be an understatement. Honestly speaking we have delivered aid in many parts of the world from Indonesia Earthquake Zone to Syrian Refugee Camps but we’ve never seen conditions like the conditions we saw in Cox Bazar. Tough is not even a word to describe the conditions, it was inhumane and still to this day the conditions haven’t changed much.

O Muslims. these are your brothers and sisters, they need your help. With your help, we can continue to offer emergency aid to the most persecuted community in the world. Whilst we might not be able to change things completely but together we can make our contribution to help Rohingya Refugees.

All this work is only possible with your generosity. Help us continue to support our Rohingya brothers and sisters; donate today.
