In this day and age, having citizenship in a country is considered a blessing. Unfortunately, Rohingya Muslims are the only community in the world without any state. Over 1.5 million Rohingyas were living in Myanmar before the 2016-17 crisis. However, the Myanmar army, together with fanatic Buddhists, butchered thousands of men, children, and women. They burnt their homes, destroyed all their belongings, and forced them to flee the country, taking refuge in neighbouring countries like Malaysia and Bangladesh. In 2013, the United Nations described the Rohingyas as the most ‘persecuted people in the world.’ As you can see, this has led to many Rohingya refugees fleeing their country in search of a better life, proper education, and a brighter future for their families. What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Islamic Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Bangladesh took in over one million Rohingya Refugees after their persecution at the hands of the Myanmar Army and Buddist terrorists. At this moment, nearly one million Rohingya refugees are living in an extremely densely populated area of Cox Bazar on the coast of Bangladesh. According to the UN, Cox Bazar is the world’s largest refugee camp. However, conditions in these camps are very challenging for Rohingya refugees.

The camps are overcrowded with makeshift plastic tents, and there is a dire lack of access to food, clean water, and clothing. Many of the refugees urgently need medical attention, suffering from skin diseases and diarrhoea. A significant portion of the refugee population consists of elderly family members, women, and children who have been separated from their guardians. Consequently, the health authorities in Bangladesh are struggling to cope with the overwhelming needs.

Additionally, we’ve provided women with sanitary products to help them through their monthly periods and childbirth. INHUMANE CONDITIONS IN ROHINGYA REFUGEE CAMPS

Saying the task was easy would be an understatement. Honestly, we have delivered aid in many parts of the world, from the Indonesia Earthquake Zone to Syrian Refugee Camps, but the conditions we witnessed in Cox’s Bazar were beyond anything we’ve seen. ‘Tough’ doesn’t even begin to describe it; it was inhumane, and to this day, conditions have scarcely improved.
