Islamic Charity Winter Emergency Appeal

What is the common thing between war and winter?

Both are testing times for families with children and if you are poor then the chances are you will be on the losing end in both.

Around the world, there are over 1.6 billion people living in temporary shelters. These shelters provide no cover from heat during hot summer days and no protection during the cold nights of winter. Islamic Welfare Trust is asking its donors to dig deep into their pockets and donate to our Islamic Charity Winter Emergency Appeal. Funds raised through this appeal will In’Sha’Allah be used to buy blankets, winter clothes, heaters, and food for the poor and needy families in Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Gaza, and Bangladesh.

What is Islamic Charity Winter Emergency Appeal?

Many poor and needy families cannot afford to buy winter clothes. They cannot even afford to buy second-hand winter clothes. Through winter appeal, charities like us provide emergency relief to the most vulnerable in our society. We provide free heaters, free blankets, free winter clothes, and free food to any family who cannot afford these blessings during winter.

What is included in Winter Pack?

Our winter pack differs from country to country, however, in general, it contains winter clothes for a family of 4. Clothes include:

  • Jumpers
  • Jackets
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Socks

In some countries, we also provide small blankets as part of our winter pack as well.

How can you help?

With your donations, you can help poor families survive winter. By donating a blanket, a heater, or a food pack you can save lives. Islamic Welfare Trust is on the ground in Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Gaza, and Bangladesh. During winter we will be providing blankets, winter clothes, and food packs for hundreds of families. But to continue this work throughout the winter we need your support. Donate to Islamic Charity Winter Emergency Appeal and bring respite to the lives of many poor and needy families around the world.

Winter – an Islamic Connection

Winter has a lot of blessings

  • Days are shorter – it is easier to keep volunteer fasts during winter
  • Nights are longer – you can get up for tahajjud and still not feel tired

However, winter is also unforgivable if you don’t take precautions to protect yourself from its harshness.

This is why Umar ibn al-Khattab (Radhi Allah Anhu) would advise his people with the following advice: “Winter, which is an enemy, has come, so prepare for it with appropriate clothing because the cold is an enemy that enters quickly but leaves slowly.”

Hunger plus freezing bodies – the mind cannot bear anymore!

This is how millions of poor families feel as soon as the winter starts. If we open our wardrobes we will have at least 5+ jackets/jumpers to choose from. However, for millions of poor families, this is not the case. Members of most poor families will each have just 1 or 2 jumpers/jackets to last the whole winter. Some won’t even have this luxury, they will just have to live through with the same clothes they wore for summer.

Affluent neighbourhoods do help the poor by donating their second-hand clothes but this is not enough. The demand overweighs the supply by far.

Donate for our winter appeal and help us provide food and winter supplies for the poor and needy Muslims across the world.

Syria Winter Emergency Appeal

When the temperature drops, the risk to the lives of Syrian refugees living in tents and temporary accommodations increases. At this time of year, all these families need is the supply of winter clothes, heaters, and fuel. This year at the start of winter, Islamic Welfare Trust will be providing over 100 Syrian families with blankets, winter clothes, heaters, and food packs. However, these families plus many more families need support throughout the winter.

Donate to Islamic Charity’s Syria Winter Appeal and help us provide life-saving winter clothes and food for hundreds of Syrian families.

Islamic Welfare Trust helps Syrian families throughout the year. We support hundreds of vulnerable families through the donations raised via Syria Emergency Appeal. Please continue your support for our work with Syrian families.

Afghanistan Winter Emergency Appeal

Right now, the people of Afghanistan are going through a very tough time. Alhamdulillah, peace has returned to the country at a very heavy price. The international community has pulled out all the support networks from the country. Now they have been left with no money, hardly any resources. Food shortages are now common. More than half of Afghans are now dependent on foreign aid. Alhamdulillah, Allah has given us a chance to help the people of Afghanistan. This winter we will Insha’Allah be delivering food aid to hundreds of Afghan families.

We need your support. Donate generously to our winter appeal and help feed poor and needy Afghan families.

You can also donate to our Afghanistan Winter Appeal, where you will be able to sponsor a food pack or build a water pump in your loved ones’ names in Afghanistan. We are one of the very few UK Islamic charities with a team in Afghanistan. Support our charity work in Afghanistan by donating to Afghanistan Emergency Appeal.

Gaza Winter Emergency Appeal

Gaza – an open-air prison. The people of Gaza need our help and support. They have been abandoned by the international community. As Muslims, it is our duty to take care of our brothers and sisters in need. This winter people of Gaza need our support. They need blankets, winter clothes, and food. Donate generously towards Gaza Winter Appeal. Help us save lives in Gaza this winter.

Like previous winters, this winter is going to be very hard for millions of poor families in Pakistan. These families cannot even afford to buy enough food let alone buy full winter clothes set for each member of the family.

Whilst we cannot help everyone in this situation but together we can help some of these families. This year our target is to provide winter packs for at least 100 families in Pakistan. We cannot do this alone, we need your help. Donate to Pakistan Winter Appeal now.

Yemen Winter Emergency Appeal

Life is already on the edge for millions of Yemenis. This winter will bring another challenge for already struggling families. As a charity, we highlighted that the key is to focus on the most vulnerable. This is why as always this winter our focus will be to help the families of widows and families with young children and elderly members. The demand for winter clothes, food, and blankets is very high in Yemen. Unfortunately, we are not a big enough charity to cover the whole of Yemen but we are helping hundreds of families in the Sanaa region.

Donate towards our Islamic Charity Yemen Winter Appeal and help us provide life-saving winter clothes and food for hundreds of Yemeni families.

Throughout the year, Islamic Welfare Trust helps Yemeni families. We provide hundreds of poor Yemeni families with regular food and water aid with the help of donations raised from the Yemen Emergency Appeal. Jazak’Allah Khair for your support and please continue showing your support for our charity work in Yemen.

Bangladesh Winter Emergency Appeal

Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh are living in some of the most inhumane conditions. Throughout the year they face different challenges. Summer brings heat waves which are unbearable in crowded camps. Monsoon season brings torrential rains which flooded most of the campsite making the campsite a flowing river. Winter has its own challenges. This winter Rohingya Muslims are in need of blankets, winter clothes, and food.

Help us save Rohingya lives by donating generously towards Bangladesh Winter Appeal. Donate a blanket, gift a winter pack or sponsor a food pack for a Rohingya Muslim family.

Why should we help the poor this winter?

Prophet Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter. (Muslim)

This is the message of Islam. We as Muslims do not help others because they are in need of our help rather we help them to seek Allah’s pleasure. By donating towards Islamic Charity Winter Emergency Appeal, Gaza Emergency Appeal, Syria Emergency Appeal, Yemen Emergency Appeal, and Rohingya Crisis Appeal you are not only helping your Muslim brothers and sisters in need rather you are pleasing Allah by showing mercy to His creation.
