What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Islamic Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Why do we feel we are one of the best water charities?

1. Our Donation Policy

We try our best to cover all charity marketing, administration and travelling costs from gift aid. However, in case a gift aid claim doesn’t cover these costs we use 10% of general donations to cover the rest. We do not take anything from Emergency Appeals like the Yemen Emergency Appeal, Gaza Crisis Appeal, Afghanistan Emergency Appeal or Rohingya Crisis Appeal. Similarly, we do not take anything from Zakat. 100% Zakat Policy, 100% Emergency Donation Policy.

2. Our Feedback

Whether you build a water pump in Pakistan, donate a water tank for Yemen or build a water well in Africa. We will provide you with photographic and videographic evidence of your sponsored project. If you ever travel to that part of the world, we can arrange with our local volunteers to visit the project as well. Insha’Allah

Bangladesh
- 60% of the population does not have access to clean drinking water.
- 30% of the country’s water is contaminated.
- Waterborne diseases are a major cause of death, especially among children.
Africa
- 663 million people do not have access to clean drinking water.
- 2.5 billion people do not have access to safely managed sanitation.
- Waterborne diseases are a major cause of death, especially among children.
Yemen
- 40% of the population does not have access to clean drinking water.
- 20% of the country’s water is contaminated.
- Waterborne diseases are a major cause of death, especially among children.
Gaza
- 97% of the water in Gaza is unfit for human consumption.
- 80% of the water is contaminated with sewage.
- Waterborne diseases are a major cause of death, especially among children.
