Help us change lives in Kashmir

Everyone in the world knows how fragile peace is between Pakistan and India. It is all to do with conflict over Kashmir. Kashmir conflict has been a cause of 4 wars between the two countries. This is the reason why many communities on both sides of the border have been neglected and never been able to develop economically and infrastructurally.

In August 2019, India changed Jammu Kashmir’s status from self-governance to being ruled by Delhi. This has caused tensions on the borders as well as within Jammu Kashmir. Since then Jammu Kashmir has been under complete lockdown and curfew. The effects of what is happening in Jammu Kashmir can be felt across the border in Azad Kashmir as well. Azad Kashmir government cannot invest in the areas which they think will be bombed if the situation gets worsen between Pakistan and India.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Islamic Welfare Trust to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Islamic Welfare Trust we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Islamic Welfare Trust to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Islamic Welfare Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Islamic Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

What is the Solution to Kashmir Conflict?

In 1948 the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution about Kashmir. After hearing arguments from both India and Pakistan, the Council outlay the peace process plan. UN security council also called on both governments to co-operate and prepare for a plebiscite to decide the fate of Kashmir. Islamic Welfare Trust also believes that this is the most credible way of resolving this conflict which has been a cause of thousands of deaths.

Life of an Ordinary Kashmiri

Whilst there are millions of Kashmiris living abroad in Europe, America, and Middle East. The region still has the highest poverty rate in rural areas. Many Kashmiris struggle on a daily basis to provide nutritional food for their families. Communities in the rural parts don’t have proper schools, mosques or medical facilities.

How can you help the poor and needy in Kashmir?

Islamic Welfare Trust has been helping Kashmiris since the early 2000s. We’ve helped local Kashmiri communities set up schools, build mosques, distributed food packs and provided free medical care through our medical camps. You can help your Kashmiri brothers and sisters by donating generously towards our Kashmir Appeal to eradicate poverty from Kashmir.
