Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Islamic Welfare Trust to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Islamic Welfare Trust we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Islamic Welfare Trust to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Islamic Welfare Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Islamic Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

EARTHQUAKES AND AFGHANISTAN

Afghanistan is prone to quakes, as it’s located in a tectonically active region, over a number of fault lines including the Chaman fault, the Hari Rud fault, the Central Badakhshan fault and the Darvaz fault.

Over the past decade more than 7,000 people have been killed in earthquakes in the country, the UN’s Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports. There are an average of 560 deaths a year from earthquakes.

Afghanistan Earthquake: Eyewitness Account

Earthquakes in Afghanistan tend to cause significant damage, as the majority of houses in rural areas are unstable or poorly built. Locals have described horrific scenes of death and destruction in the aftermath of this deadly earthquake.

“The kids and I screamed and in a split second one of our rooms was destroyed. We ran outside and noticed that the whole street has been destroyed.”

Faitma

“All houses in our street were either completely destroyed or partially damaged. I did not see a single house without damage.”

Faisal

“Every street you go, you hear people mourning the deaths of their loved ones.”

Alem

WHY DO WE NEED TO DONATE TO AFGHANISTAN EARTHQUAKE APPEAL?

On 30th August 2021, the USA decided to leave the occupation of Afghanistan after a 20-year bloody and brutal war. Afghanistan hasn’t been a stable country since Britton tried to invade back in the 19th century. However, the war after 9/11 took the problems of Afghanistan to another level. Millions lost their lives. Thousands of women became widows and hundreds of thousands of children became orphans and countless individuals became disabled. Right now, Afghanistan is one of the poorest nations in the world. Without help from generous people like you, Islamic Charities like IWT cannot continue to help the people of Afghanistan.

Donate to the Afghanistan Earthquake Appeal, as you have donated to the Afghanistan Emergency Appeal, Afghanistan Food Appeal, and Afghanistan Water Appeal and during the holy month of Ramadan you always donate food and Zakat via Ramadan Food Appeal and Ramadan Zakat. Continue your support. Your donations will Insha’Allah save lives.

AFGHANISTAN EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS NEED HELP NOW!

Even before the earthquake, Afghans were facing hunger, poverty and starvation. The earthquake has taken the little progress made in complete reverse. Urgent help is needed to provide food and shelter aid for the Afghanistan Earthquake Victims. Donate generously to Afghanistan Earthquake Appeal and help deliver humanitarian aid to Afghan families in need.

Even before the earthquake, emergency services in Afghanistan didn’t have enough people and facilities, and now the earthquake has ruined the little they had. If urgent help doesn’t get to the Earthquake Victims, many more lives will be lost through starvation and malnutrition.

The reward of Spending in the way of Allah

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allah said: ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari

Right now, there is no one more deserving of our help than the people of Afghanistan. Donate to Afghanistan Earthquake Appeal and help deliver life-saving food and shelter aid to the people of Afghanistan. Donate now before Afghanistan Humanitarian Crisis becomes a human catastrophe.

FAQ about IWT’s Donation Policy

Between £15k and £20k is covered by Gift Aid, while the remainder is covered by taking a small percentage (not exceeding 10%) from donations, excluding Zakat and Emergency Appeals.
